Abstract
It would have been enough to write a play, direct one that was not my own or to act as a designer and technical director on a different project. However, I did all three for Campfire Tales are Best Told in Whispers, not for the sake of bragging rights but because I believed in this show. Its message needed to be heard; those that are in a position of privilege in society need to be careful and sympathetic when communicating with those that are socially oppressed. With the growing number of young trans-people committing suicide, the story of this play is relevant to present day and it needed to be produced. The production of the play took place on the Alfred University campus, with the support of actors, professors, and crew members open to the play's ideals and message.
